Public Policy Summer Fellowship Program Returns in 2022

Applications now open for 2022 cohort

The Cuyahoga County Public Policy Fellowship program, developed to inspire and empower the next generation of public sector leaders in Northeast Ohio, will return in summer 2022 following a pandemic-related hiatus.

This eight-week placement (June 6-July 29, 2022) provides rigorous experiential learning opportunities for students who are passionate about public service. Interested candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence through scholastic endeavors, leadership, and extracurricular involvement.

Students will gain an in-depth view of how County government operates during the fellowship. Possible activities include:

  • Research and analysis of new policies and initiatives
  • Working with senior staff on critical County projects and processes
  • Attending County Council meetings, staff meetings, community events, and press conferences

All fellows will participate in a series of enrichment activities highlighting key County programs, services, and functions, and will present their work to senior leadership at a symposium during the final week of the program.

Past placement areas include Consumer Affairs, Communications, Economic Development and Housing, Finance and Accounting, Health and Human Services, Human Resources, Information Technology, Innovation and Performance, Public Safety and Justice Services, Public Works, Regional Collaboration, and Sustainability.

Please complete an online profile and submit a resume and cover letter on the County’s online job portal. Resume content must include identification of three preferred placement areas, current GPA, and achievements or skills that are relevant to fellowship placement.

Public Policy Fellows are paid an hourly rate of $15.00 for their participation in the program. Applications must be received by January 31, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.
