The Cuyahoga County Department of Public Safety and Justice Services is accepting applications from local organizations for its fiscal year 2021 STOP Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Request for Proposals.

Cuyahoga County receives its STOP Violence Against Women Act funding for this program from the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs. The subgrant program is designed to develop the nation’s capacity to reduce domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking by strengthening services to victims and holding offenders accountable.

The STOP Violence Against Women Act is instrumental in enhancing and improving the County’s response to protecting all residents from abuse and violence.

Eligible VAWA subrecipients include:

• A unit of local government or council of governments. A unit of local government has legislative autonomy, jurisdiction, and authority to act in certain circumstances. Units of government include a city, county, township, or village. If two or more jointly apply, they must designate one body to take the lead role and identify that agency’s fiscal officer.
• Local and state nonprofit, non-governmental victim service programs.
• Law enforcement agencies applying under this solicitation must be in compliance with crime statistics reporting, using either the Ohio Incident-Based reporting System (OIBRS) or the Uniform Crime Reporting Summary Reporting System, per the Ohio Revised Code.
