Correction officers oversee and supervise inmates within the Correction Center during all daily activities. 

Duties include:  

  • Inmate searches 

  • Distributing meals 

  • Counting inmates 

  • Reporting unusual incidents 

  • Escorting inmates 

Qualified candidates must: 

  • Be 21 years old 

  • Hold a high school diploma or GED 

  • Have never been convicted of a felony 

  • Have the ability to quickly acclimate to the environment and behavior of inmates.  

The starting wage for correction officers is $19.12 per hour. The County will also pay for your required Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) training. 

Rotating shifts are available, and overtime is offered to qualified officers. There are also continuous opportunities for advancement. Those best suited for this position will be individuals with good judgment, self-discipline, resourcefulness, adaptability and interpersonal skills.
