Description of Board and Responsibilities:
The Workforce Development Board (WDB) provides policy and guidance, and exercises oversight, for Service Delivery Area 3 (City of Cleveland/Cuyahoga County), in partnership with Cuyahoga County and the City of Cleveland. Its programs and services include resources for employers and jobseekers, including education, job training, job search assistance, and employment-related youth programs funded through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA).
Qualifications:
In order to meet the requirements of the federal law governing Workforce Development Boards (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014), a majority of WDB members must be from the private sector; and they must be owners of businesses, chief executives or other private sector executives who have substantial management or policy responsibilities. By law, the WDB must include public sector representatives of organized labor and community-based organizations; also, a representative of each of the following: education, vocational rehabilitation agency, public assistance agency, economic development agency, representatives of the one-stop partners and the public employment service.
