Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 307.696, Cuyahoga County and the City of Cleveland are authorized to enter agreements with the Gateway Economic Development Corporation of Greater Cleveland (Gateway) to construct and operate sports facilities in this region. This agreement involves a partnership between Gateway, Cuyahoga County and the City of Cleveland in fulfilling operational and maintenance obligations. Gateway, through its Board of Trustees, determines long-term responsibilities affiliated with the construction and maintenance of these facilities as well as property issues, financing obligations and capital repairs for the sports facilities. Gateway has adopted a Code of Regulations that details the composition of the Board of Trustees as well as their duties.

The Gateway Board of Trustees consists of five members. Two members are appointed by the City of Cleveland, two are appointed by Cuyahoga County and one member is jointly appointed by the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. The members of the Board of Trustees serve five year terms and serve without compensation. While there are no specific requirements for the members of the Gateway Board of Trustees, financial background, including both public and private sector experience, is preferred. Please note that the joint appointment must be confirmed by both the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County.
