The Board of Trustees sets policy for and provides oversight to Cuyahoga County’s public health care system. MetroHealth is committed to providing outstanding health care for individuals, to eliminating health inequities and to promoting community health. It offers integrated health services at five hospitals, four emergency rooms and more than 20 health centers and 40 additional sites. MetroHealth’s nearly 9,000 employees strive to root out systematic barriers to good health and improve health outcomes across our community. Since its founding in 1837, MetroHealth has provided care to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. 

The Cuyahoga County Executive together with the probate judge of Cuyahoga County senior and the judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Cuyahoga County senior shall nominate and, with the approval of the Cuyahoga County Council, appoint the members of the Board and must be vetted as capable by these entities.
