Description of Board and Responsibilities:

Pursuant to Section 9.01 of the Cuyahoga County Charter, Cuyahoga County established a Personnel Review Commission. This three-member commission is responsible for administering, for and in cooperation with the officers, agencies, boards and commission of the County , and efficient and economical system for the employment of persons in the public service of the County according to merit and fitness. The Personnel Review Commission strives to eliminate unnecessary expense and duplication of effort, while ensuring that persons will be employed in the public service without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, age or ancestry.

Qualifications:

The members of the Personnel Review Commission serve six-year terms. The members are paid a per diem fee for their services. Each member of the Commission must be an elector of Cuyahoga County and must have experience in the personnel matters or personnel administration and who are supportive of equal opportunity considerations. Charter Section 9.01 mandates that “no more than two of the three members of the Personnel Review Commission shall be members of the same political party”. As such, to guarantee compliance with this Charter Section, please state your political affiliation when applying.
