CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald today named Gregory F. Clifford as the new Cuyahoga County Law Director.

“The appointment of Gregory F. Clifford as Law Director for Cuyahoga County will ensure that we will receive thoughtful, timely advice as we implement the process of county reform,” said FitzGerald.  “I am pleased to have someone with his integrity serve in this important position.”

Clifford is the Chief Magistrate for the Cleveland Municipal Court and had previously served as the Deputy Chief Magistrate, a Cleveland Municipal Court Referee, as an attorney in private practice and as an Assistant Prosecutor for Cuyahoga County.

Clifford’s talents were supported by both Judge Ronald B. Adrine and Judge Emanuella Groves of the Cleveland Municipal Court.

“In his years as Deputy Chief, and then as Chief Magistrate of our court, he not only served as an excellent judicial officer, but also as an excellent manager of 18 attorneys and seven other support personnel.  In short, Mr. Clifford has all of the skills, qualities and experience required to deliver an outstanding performance as Cuyahoga County’s first Law Director,” Judge Adrine said.

Judge Groves said that Clifford’s “professionalism is outstanding and his integrity is impeccable.  He has a great ability to identify issues and initiate the proper resolution for those issues, both procedurally and managerially.”
