Customer Service Improvements Make Bill Paying Easier

CLEVELAND — Friday is the last day to pay property tax bills at Key Bank branches throughout Cuyahoga County, but other new options remain for property owners looking for a convenient way to meet the Wednesday, July 13 deadline.

For only the second time, employees of the county treasurer’s office will be offering drive-up service for residents who wish to pay their 2010 taxes by check. County employees will be stationed outside the county building ready to accept payments until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12 and until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13.

“This is one of the ways we are improving customer service to ensure that taxpayers have a better experience,” FitzGerald said. “This drive-through service proved popular when we offered it in January, so we are going to give it another try.”

Cuyahoga County government has also made drop boxes available for county residents to pay by check at the four auto title bureau offices in North Olmsted, Parma, Maple Heights and in downtown Cleveland. Property owners may also pay by cash, check or credit card (a convenience fee applies) at the treasurer’s office, open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the County Administration Building, 1219 Ontario St.

Other payment options include paying online at www.treasurer.cuyahogacounty.us, where payments are accepted at all hours of the day, and by U.S. mail, where payments must be postmarked by July 13 to be considered timely.

No matter the method, all tax payments for the second half of 2010 are due by midnight July 13, 2011. Payments made after that deadline are subject to a penalty of up to 10 percent. For more information, or to discuss a payment plan, call (216) 443-7420 to speak with a taxpayer service representative.

Only checks will be accepted at the auto title bureau drop boxes. Hours vary at the auto title bureau offices, which are located at 1261 Superior Ave. in Cleveland; 5069 Great Northern Plaza in North Olmsted; 12100 Snow Road, Suite 15, in Parma; and 21100 Southgate Park Blvd, Suite 101, in Maple Heights.
