CLEVELAND - Two major activities will take place in August at the Cuyahoga Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) to observe Child Support Awareness Month. The annual StreetFest, scheduled for August 1st, and a driver’s license amnesty program which will run from August 1st through September 2nd. Both events will have educational components, but the StreetFest will provide helpful information and answer questions in a fun and festive atmosphere. The “Get Back into the Driver’s Seat” driver’s license amnesty program will allow for a participant whose driver’s license was suspended due to failure to pay child support to be reinstated.

STREETFEST: The 4th Annual StreetFest on August 1st will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. on East 17th Street between Superior and Payne Avenues. Over forty child support partners will be there with useful information and give-away items. For the kids there will be face painting, games and prizes. Some of the child support partners include Boot Camp for Dads, the Cleveland Fire Department and Healthy Start.

GET BACK INTO THE DRIVER’S SEAT: Currently 8,918 people are eligible for the driver’s license amnesty program. Letters were sent out to these individuals advising them of the program, how much they will need to pay, and the need to attend an information seminar about the child support program in order to have their license reinstated. The last time CSEA had an amnesty program over $150,000 was collected during the program. Approximately 45% of those who participated in last year’s program have continued to make payments. Over 100 participants who failed to continue to pay their child support obligation had their driver’s licenses re-suspended and their cases were referred to the courts for further enforcement actions.

A special driver’s license amnesty phone number has been set up to answer any questions participants may have regarding license reinstatement. The number is 216-344-2796. The amnesty program runs from August 1st through September 2nd, hours are 8:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. at the Virgil Brown Building at 1640 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114. Cash payments can be made Cuyahoga County Treasurer’s Office,1st Floor Cashiers’ Office at 1219 Ontario Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44113.
