CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald announced his selection for the county’s first ever Fiscal Officer, the position identified in the county charter to consolidate the former functions of the Auditor, Recorder and other fiscal responsibilities of the county.

FitzGerald’s choice is Wade Steen, a Certified Public Accountant with experience in the private and public sectors who served as the Franklin County Treasurer from 2001 to 2002. Steen was Assistant Chief Deputy Auditor for State Auditor Jim Petro, was an Auditor for Ernst and Young, and has run his own accounting firm since 2005, in addition to other relevant experience, totaling almost 27 years in the accounting field.

“Wade has the skills and leadership ability to make the changes needed in this important area of Cuyahoga County government. As we pursue efficiencies in our operations, Wade’s background and experience will be a major asset to our efforts,” said FitzGerald.

Steen will be presented for confirmation to County Council in the near future.

FitzGerald also recognized Mark Parks, who has served as Acting Fiscal Officer since January. “Mark was very effective in an interim role and has helped the transition process run smoothly. He is an important part of our fiscal team.”
