CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald proposed to Cuyahoga County Council the award of more than $1 million dollars in Employment and Family Services contracts as part of an ongoing effort and focus on providing resources to community based organizations, including, especially, those that that serve non-English speaking residents of Cuyahoga County, either with bi-lingual staff or through interpretive services. The two proposed awards are to El Barrio, Inc. and LNE & Associates, LLP.
“We must remove language and training barriers to success,” said County Executive Ed FitzGerald, “We have the resources to help residents learn new skills and train for new positions. These grants are a step toward overcoming those barriers.”
Employment and Family Services strives to improve residents’ access to jobs and provide benefits and community services that are designed to strengthen families and meet basic needs. EFS contracts with local service providers to offer a variety of employment and training related activities that help at-risk Cuyahoga County residents make a smooth transition from unemployment and public assistance to employment and economic independence.
