CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald was recently appointed to serve on the Board of County Executives of America (CEA). The Board has 32 members, and there are approximately 700 general members of the CEA.
“I am honored to have been named to serve on the board of this prestigious organization, which has spent over 40 years helping county leaders reach their goals,” said FitzGerald. “CEA provides a national voice on many issues that are important to county governments. In addition, they provide services that assist counties in cutting costs and improve service to our residents. I am looking forward to working collaboratively with county representatives throughout our country on issues that are important to all of us.”
Maggie Brooks, president of CEA, welcomed FitzGerald to the Board of the County Executives of America saying, “The addition of the Cuyahoga County Executive puts CEA’s representation to over 160 million Americans. Cuyahoga, under Ed’s leadership, will help CEA represent the people of Cuyahoga and all Americans.”
Michael Griffin, Executive Director of CEA said, “County Executives of America looks forward to the participation of Cuyahoga County and the leadership of Ed FitzGerald in our organization. Northeast Ohio represents one of the great centers of America and we look forward to his participation”.
County Executives of America (CEA) is the only non-partisan association dedicated specifically to chief elected county officials. County Executives of America began as a league formed by county executives who believed that the job as the chief elected officer of a county was too important to overlook. Their initial desire to create an alliance that would assist county officers in executing their duties sparked a dramatic evolution that produced today’s association of over 700 counties. CEA's current membership includes County Executives, County Judges, Parish and Borough Presidents, City-County Mayors, Commission Presidents and Chairs, and all county leaders elected at-large by the public constituency.
