Local businesses to be given 2% credit in County’s bidding process

CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Edward FitzGerald has joined with County Council leaders in establishing a Business Preference Program that will provide incentives to local businesses in the County’s competitive bidding process. This program will give a Cuyahoga County based company a credit of 2% of the lowest bid submitted by a non‐Cuyahoga County based business bidder.

“Providing incentives to our local businesses makes sense”, said FitzGerald. “We want to keep local money in our local economy.”

County Councilman Michael Gallagher joined Executive FitzGerald in supporting the Business Preference Program. “I was proud to assist my supportive Council colleagues in drafting this legislation. Having successful local businesses is beneficial to all County residents. In these difficult economic times, providing incentives for local businesses is what this government should be doing.”
