CUYAHOGA - Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency in Cuyahoga County as a result of severe storms and flooding that occurred on July 20, 2013. This is the first step in obtaining a disaster declaration from the State of Ohio.
If the state agrees and declares Cuyahoga County a disaster area the hardest-hit communities in Cuyahoga County may become eligible for reimbursement for certain storm and flooding-related expenses.
Based on the type and extent of damage that has been sustained in Cuyahoga County, it is not expected that individual residents or homeowners will qualify for assistance. Local governments, however, may become eligible for reimbursement for flooding-related repairs or other costs.
