Dedication Leads to Rescue of Dozens

Cuyahoga County - The Renee Jones Empowerment Center hosted Project Red Cord: Breaking the Chains of Human Trafficking Inaugural Gala. The first ever Distinguished Service Award was given to Task Force Officer Detective John Morgan, of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department.

“Human Trafficking is growing across the United States.  We have seen it in our own backyard.  Detective Morgan exemplifies the effort and dedication to stopping this criminal activity, and in rescuing those who fall victim.  We will not stop in our efforts to combat those who prey on our citizens,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald.  “We are proud of Detective Morgan and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition of his efforts and results.”

Sheriff Frank Bova said, “Deputy John Morgan has, through his dedication and resolve, saved lives of our most vulnerable.  He is a true asset and ambassador for the Sheriff’s Department.  He not only solves horrific cases, but imparts his knowledge and experience to students and peers in his educational outreach.  He truly deserves this honor and recognition. “

FBI Special Agent in Charge, Stephen D. Anthony, “John Morgan began with the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) five years ago, the same year the task force set up the Human Trafficking/Child Prostitution working group. John has become the go to person for child prostitution/human trafficking matters. He has strengthened our relationships with schools, community organizations and law enforcement agencies and has been involved in every major child prostitution/human trafficking case the VCTF has worked. In the last year alone, John and the VCTF have presented seventeen cases for county prosecution. Most importantly, John has rescued children that will be forever grateful for his dedication to this cause."
