CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald issued the following statement today to commemorate the life of community leader Arnold Pinkney:
"I was saddened to learn earlier today of the passing of Arnold Pinkney, who has served as one of Cleveland's most influential community leaders, civil rights activists, and local entrepreneurs over the past fifty years. Ohioans will always remember Arnold most as a trusted advisor to some of our most effective public servants, including Governor Richard Celeste, Judge Charles White, Mayor Carl Stokes, and Representative Louis Stokes, who he helped elect in 1968 as the first African-American to serve our state in the U.S. Congress. He leaves behind an incredible legacy."
"I extend my deepest sympathies to Arnold's wife Betty, their daughter Traci, and the entire Pinkney family during this difficult time."
