CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald will join Cuyahoga County Sheriff Frank Bova and community organizations in the inaugural Missing Persons commemoration and awareness day.

“We have taken numerous steps to find our missing and assist their families,” said County Executive Ed FitzGerald. “We mark this day with the families of those missing, to let them know we have not and will not forget.”

Missing Persons Day is free and open to the public. At the event, family members can submit DNA reference samples and create online profiles; learn about preventative steps, retinal scans and ident-a-kit packets; speak with officers who will take tips on old cases and conduct interviews on new cases; and interact with over a dozen community organizations.

Missing Persons Day will also include a Memorial Service with performances by the Cuyahoga county Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard, a penlight moment, a missing persons roll call, and a dove release.

Sheriff Frank Bova said, “Missing Persons Day will continue our efforts to raise awareness, seek tips and offer tools for families to find and protect those they love. It is an ongoing effort, and one in which we work hand in hand with our community and our community leaders.”
