CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald issued the following statement today:
"First, I want to recognize the incredible work that all the folks at the Cleveland 2016 Host Committee have done over the past few months to make Cleveland one of only two finalists to land the 2016 Republican National Convention. I am also grateful for Mayor Frank Jackson's partnership and the support this effort has received from both the Cleveland City Council and the Cuyahoga County Council. Every Northeast Ohio resident can take tremendous pride in today’s announcement and in what this says about the renaissance we're seeing here in Cleveland."
"Most importantly, hosting the 2016 Republican National Convention would create good-paying jobs for middle class families, strengthen our local tourism industry, and help bring as many as 35,000 visitors and as much as $200 million in economic benefits to our region. Regardless of political party, every Clevelander can agree that hosting this convention would be a major victory for our region."
