Armond Budish, Cuyahoga County Executive-Elect, Names Sharon Sobol Jordan as Chief of Staff
Cuyahoga County Executive-elect Armond Budish today named Sharon Sobol Jordan as his Chief of Staff for his administration, citing her extensive public, private and non-profit executive experience that includes running a large, effective organization, and her background in human services and her commitment to the community.
Jordan, who is serving as a co-chair of the Budish Transition Team, is the President and CEO of The Centers for Families and Children, a non-profit organization based in Cleveland. The Centers serves more than 21,000 individuals each year from 20 sites and community outreach programs across Greater Cleveland, and provides a diverse slate of services and opportunities from education to healthcare.
Budish said Jordan is well-respected throughout the community and will provide the leadership needed to move Cuyahoga County forward.
“Sharon shares my vision for the future of Cuyahoga County. Her work with The Centers for Families and Children speaks volumes about her commitment to our community and her talent as an innovative CEO. Under her leadership, The Centers completed a successful merger, grew revenues, and started groundbreaking collaborative efforts like The 2000 Days Pledge. She is a world-class leader who is as comfortable in a boardroom talking to a CEO as she is looking into the eyes of those in our most vulnerable families. Her skills are rare and needed,” Budish said.
Jordan said she is excited to get started once the transition work is completed.
“I look forward to working with County Executive-elect Budish on turning our region into an economic powerhouse. We have tremendous challenges and unlimited opportunities to create jobs, strengthen our families, take advantage of our numerous natural assets and make our county a destination point for businesses and people alike,” Jordan said.
Marc S. Byrnes, Chairman of the Oswald Companies, applauded Jordan’s selection and praised her work on behalf of Cleveland’s communities.
“Sharon Sobol Jordan is a talented leader who will be able to help County Executive- elect Budish and his office accomplish their goals quickly and efficiently. She knows how to manage and administrate large businesses and she will bring people together to achieve our common goals. I look forward to working alongside them to continue to make this county and region stronger,” Byrnes said.
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson also endorsed Jordan’s selection.
"I congratulate County Executive-elect Armond Budish on his decision to appoint Sharon Sobol Jordan as his Chief of Staff. I have known Ms. Jordan for a number of years and she has participated in our Operations Efficiency Task Force, as well as The Cleveland Plan on Education and other city initiatives,” Jackson said. “Ms. Jordan understands the needs and processes at the City of Cleveland, having served as Director of Law and in other City leadership positions in the 1990's. She is an experienced and accomplished collaborator, having recently presided over this region's largest and most successful merger of non-profit entities - Centers for Families and Children, West Side Ecumenical Ministry, and El Barrio - to create a leading provider of mental health/wellness and early child care services. Her talents and experience will make her an excellent Chief of Staff."
Jordan will officially begin her duties as chief of staff on Jan. 1st.
