The Cuyahoga County Fiscal Department is reminding Cuyahoga County residents age 65 or older, permanently disabled, and who are not currently receiving the Homestead Exemption, that June 1, 2015, is the deadline to apply for tax year 2015. If you are already in the program, you do not need to re-enroll.

To qualify for Homestead Exemption, residents must be the owner of the home or manufactured home, and primary residence as of January 1st. Residents turning 65 after January 1, 2014 are now subject to income restrictions due to changes made by the Ohio General Assembly. House Bill 59 limits the Homestead Exemption to owner-occupied residents whose adjusted gross income is $31,000 or less based on the previous year’s income.

Applications for the Homestead Exemption can be downloaded at the Fiscal Office website at: https://fiscalofficer.cuyahogacounty.us/en-US/homestead-exemption-forms.aspx.

Applicants can also apply in person at the Transfer and Recording Department of the Fiscal Department located in the Cuyahoga County Administrative Headquarters, 2079 East Ninth Street, 4th Floor, Cleveland, OH, 44115. For additional information, please contact the Cuyahoga County Fiscal Department at (216) 443-7010.
