Permanent Closure of Northfield Road at Intersection of Chagrin Boulevard and Warrensville Center Road

CLEVELAND – Beginning on Monday, February 23, 2015, Northfield Road at the intersection of Chagrin Boulevard and Warrensville Center Road will close permanently.
Traffic will no longer be able to travel on Northfield Road across the intersection of Chagrin Boulevard and Warrensville Center Road. Instead, Northfield Road will dead end into a new cul-de-sac set for construction this spring. (Click here to view the map where the blue X indicates the future location of the new cul-de-sac).
All local traffic having to enter this stretch of Northfield Road will be able do so from the new roundabout connected to Warrensville Center Road. The roundabout meets the remaining Northfield Road with Warrensville Center Road. (Click here to view the map where the green X indicates the location of the roundabout).
This road closure is part of the Warrensville Center Road/Van Aken Roadway Reconfiguration Project, as a part of the City of Shaker Heights’ long-term economic development plans. The Project will reconstruct the existing seven-leg intersection to create a more conventional and much safer four-leg intersection. The new intersection will carry traffic east/west on Chagrin Boulevard and north/south on Warrensville Center Road.
We thank you for your patience during the Warrensville Center Road/Van Aken Roadway Reconfiguration Project. We apologize for the inconvenience this project may have on your commute. Once the project is completed, we will all benefit from a smoother and safer roadway.
