CLEVELAND – Rick Werner, Director of Health and Human Services, announced today that he has been selected as Director of the Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library.

“ We appreciate Rick's tremendous contribution to the delivery of human services in Cuyahoga County and congratulate him on his appointment,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Budish. “For years, Rick has stood out as a distinguished and dedicated public servant. His efforts will be sorely missed. I understand this new role fulfilled a longtime dream of Rick’s and we wish him all the best in his new career,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Budish.

More recently, Werner was also named the Interim Administrator of the Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services. The County has posted that position and will continue its search for the permanent Administrator.

“I thank County Executive Budish and all of my colleagues at Cuyahoga County for a fulfilling and rewarding tenure,” said Werner. “I have a passion for my new career and several years ago received my master’s degree in library science. While it is with a heavy heart that I submitted my resignation, I trust that the County and DCFS have great leaders to fulfill our vision of a county government without silos that serves and lifts up all residents.”

Werner’s date of resignation has yet to be determined but his transition will take place over the course of several weeks.
