Cleveland – The Association of Public Safety Communication Officials (APCO), a national 9-1-1 industry organizational leader, has awarded Chagrin Valley Council of Governments their Public Safety Communications Technology Leadership – Small Agency Award.
“Only a limited number of honors are awarded to 9-1-1 agencies, said Cuyahoga County Executive Budish, “and it’s great that our consolidated dispatch in Cuyahoga County received this recognition. We continue to work together to provide safe, effective services to our residents, and the citizens of our region reap the benefits of working together, of more efficient safety collaborations and equipment for the municipalities within Cuyahoga County”.
The Chagrin Valley Dispatch Center is a state-of-the-art emergency dispatching agency that serves members of the Chagrin Valley Council of Governments. Member agencies include: Bentleyville, Chagrin Falls Village, Chagrin Falls Township, Euclid, Gates Mills, Highland Hills, Hunting Valley, Moreland Hills, North Randall, Orange Village, South Russell and Woodmere.
“This award is a testament to the steps Cuyahoga County has taken to consolidate 9-1-1 dispatch centers, which have been vital towards regional collaboration with our local communities” added Cuyahoga County Councilman Michael J. Gallagher. “We will continue to work with the County Executive and our municipal leaders to ensure the public safety needs of our residents are met.”
“Change can bring about heightened levels of anxiety, especially when it comes to changes in the way we handle our emergency services,” said Chagrin Falls Fire Chief Frank Zugan. “In this case, however, I can attest that the changes have provided tremendous upgrades in the level of services and quality of dispatching. It’s been a win for residents and a win for the police officers and firefighters.”
