Cleveland - Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish issued the following statement today to praise the Supreme Court for their decision to allow marriage equality throughout the United States:

“I am thrilled that marriage equality has finally arrived and all couples and children now have the same rights throughout the United States. The Supreme Court got it right.

I am pleased they recognized our argument in the Amicus Brief we filed in February, that children of same sex parents are entitled to the same rights and privileges of our Constitution as any child. I am also proud of our advocacy and gratified that our principals of inclusion have been vindicated.

This historic victory will undoubtedly move our nation and region forward.”

The Cuyahoga County Probate Court is prepared to issue licenses and has already issued three.
