Cuyahoga County Planning Commission Receives $120,000 Grant for Northfield-Warrensville Road Corridor Project

Cleveland – The Cuyahoga County Planning Commission received a $120,000.00 grant on behalf of the cities of Shaker Heights, Warrensville Heights and the villages of North Randall, and Highland Hills for the proposed Northfield-Warrensville Road Corridor (NWC) project.
“I applaud the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission for taking the lead on this project,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish. “These neighboring communities demonstrate the collaboration necessary to improve the economic and social outcomes for their residents. Their commitment to this project will enhance the quality of life for all residents of Cuyahoga County.”
The Northfield-Warrensville Road Corridor Project will increase pedestrian and bicycle connectivity, and public transit options. It will connect neighborhoods to employment, education, health centers and existing green spaces.
“The TLCI program will enable the partners to prepare an action plan with design, engineering and land use recommendations,” said Glenn Coyne, Executive Director of the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission. “Ultimately, we envision the Northfield-Warrensville Center Corridor as a collaborative Transit-Oriented Development linking neighborhoods, employment centers, healthcare and education providers, and recreational facilities with a multi-purpose path and greenway system.”
“We in Shaker Heights are delighted to be working with mayors in our neighboring communities to create an economic development zone extending from the site of our Van Aken revitalization to I-480,” said Mayor Earl Leiken of Shaker Heights.
