CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County is pleased to announce a $1 million grant from the Cleveland Foundation to support the community challenge to raise funds to expand and enhance high quality universal pre-kindergarten in Cuyahoga County.

“This generous $1 million dollar award from the Cleveland Foundation is a real vote of confidence for the high-quality Universal Pre-K program in Cuyahoga County. We continue to raise dollars for this transformative initiative and the Cleveland Foundation’s gift is extremely meaningful,” said County Executive Armond Budish.

“We are pleased that our board approved early support for this new initiative to allow many more children to have access to high-quality preschool, a critical building block in every child’s success,” said Ronn Richard, President and CEO of the Cleveland Foundation.

With the unanimous support of County Council, Budish included an additional $10 million toward universal pre-kindergarten in the 2016-2017 county budget. Private funds, together with the public dollars will be invested to ensure more children experience a successful pre-school education.
