Cleveland, Ohio – The Cuyahoga County Division of Senior and Adult Services (DSAS) officially launched its web portal that will allow any individual to make a referral from anywhere in the United States concerning the well-being or safety of an older adult.
In 2015, DSAS investigated and substantiated over 2000 cases of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation among older persons in Cuyahoga County.
These numbers have increased over the past three years and are expected to increase in 2016. The web-portal is a user-friendly tool that will assist efforts to address elder safety and well-being in the community.
After the referral is complete, a Centralized Intake Supervisor will review it and, if appropriate, assign it to an Intake Specialist. The Intake Specialist will then prepare the case for assignment. The person making the referral will be notified via telephone when the case is accepted, or if more information is necessary. The entire process is confidential.
“The Adult Protective Services (APS) Web-Portal was made possible through an Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services Capacity Grant and aligns with one of County Executive Budish’s strategic priorities, which is to ensure that county government is easy to access and work with for our customers and partners”, said Dr. Richard Jones, Administrator of DSAS. “This is just the beginning as we continue to establish ‘no wrong door’ policies and practices.”
The web-portal is located on the DSAS main website: www.dsas.cuyahogacounty.us
For additional information or to report an allegation of abuse, neglect, or exploitation please call (216) 420-6700.
