Cleveland, OH – The Cuyahoga County Fiscal Department now offers electronic document recording (eRecording), a method of delivering and returning documents electronically from a submitter’s office to the recorder. eRecording can be an option for title companies, law firms, banks, and other businesses that record documents. The actual recording of a document is completed by the recorder’s software system, and is returned to the submitter electronically.

Cuyahoga County currently accepts non-transfer, general recording documents and UCC fixture filings for electronic recording. Documents accepted for electronic recording include; mortgages, satisfactions, lien releases, and assignments. Deeds and transfer documents will not be accepted electronically at this time.

Benefits of eRecording:
  • Reduces the time from submission to return of documents, from 3-5 working days to within minutes or hours of the initial submission.
  • Saves time, money and resources normally spent on document packaging, delivery and return.
  • Reduces rejections and document & payment errors.
  • Enhances document tracking & security.
  • Helps with industry best practice compliance.
  • No cutting and processing checks. Payment of recording & eRecording fees is handled electronically.
