Cleveland, Ohio – Earlier today, Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish announced the creation of the Global Center for Health Innovation Rising Star Awards program. Sponsored by a Presidential Grant from the Mt. Sinai Health Care Foundation, the Rising Star Awards will provide for the award presentation to three outstanding Northeast Ohio healthcare or biomedical startup companies on an annual basis.

The Rising Star Awards are designed to reward companies that represent the Global Center's vision as a beacon for engagement, connection and inspiration to innovate healthcare today and tomorrow, advance economic development, and create jobs in Northeast Ohio. Each Rising Star Silver and Bronze Award recipients would receive a one-year rent-free space in the Global Center's Business Showcase.

“The Global Center Rising Star Awards program is critical to furthering economic development in Northeast Ohio, advancing the healthcare industry, and attracting and retaining new business to Northeast Ohio,” said Budish. “The goals of this competition are to reward and cultivate biomedical startup companies through a rigorous presentation and application process. Winners will have access to the partners that are there who are leaders in the healthcare innovation space.”

Utilizing the Mt. Sinai Foundation Presidential Grant, the Rising Star Gold award winner will be awarded space in the Global Center Business Showcase and a $25,000 stipend for business development.

Fifteen deserving startup organizations will be invited to submit business plans to the selection committee.
