World Series: Cleveland Indians Return Home to Energy and Excitement
CLEVELAND – The homestretch of the 2016 World Series begins this week in Cleveland with Game 6 scheduled for Tuesday, November 1st and Game 7, if needed, scheduled for Wednesday, November 2nd at Progressive Field. Both games are set to begin at 8:08 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
The final two games of the World Series are expected to draw large crowds that may cause traffic delays in the downtown area. In order to improve the flow of traffic, the Division of Police will be implementing “NO PARKING” designations in the following areas on both sides of the listed street for Game 6 and Game 7 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
In addition to Game 6 of the World Series, the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Houston Rockets game on Tuesday, November 1st at Quicken Loans Arena has been moved up to 6:00 p.m. The Q’s doors will now open at 4:30 p.m. The Cavaliers’ game should conclude by the 2nd inning of Game 6 of the World Series. Following the Cavaliers game, fans are invited to stay inside The Q to watch Game 6 on the Humongotron.
The City of Cleveland and Division of Police offer the following tips to make your experience more enjoyable.
Gateway East Garage closed to daily and monthly parking. Gateway East Garage will be operating in a “Day Game” situation on Tuesday, November 1st. No cash parking or monthly parking passes will be permitted. Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavilers game-day pass parking will be permitted. This is for Tuesday, November 1st only.
Be cautious of counterfeit tickets. The risk of purchasing counterfeit tickets from scalpers off the street is high during the World Series. Fans who purchase tickets from a secondary source are taking a chance. Police officers want to proactively curb such activity and encourage buyers to be aware. Purchasing tickets via other means creates the potential for possessing either an invalid or counterfeit ticket. The Indians are not responsible for tickets purchased through secondary sources.
Arrive early, stay late. In order to ensure that you arrive at your destination without missing a second of the action, plan your commute beforehand and allow yourself extra travel time. Ride RTA. Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is expanding service for all World Series games and watch parties. RTA employees will be on hand to direct customers and sell a $5 round-trip, commemorative World Series pass at the busiest stations.
Service on all rail lines will operate up to 60 minutes after the game or watch parties end, even if the game goes into extra innings. Many Rapid stations offer free parking. Please follow the signs and park legally. Visit http://www.riderta.com/ to plan your trip.
The Bureau of Traffic will supplement their customary allotment of traffic enforcement officers with additional police officers and traffic controllers to facilitate traffic into and out of downtown and to assist with pedestrian traffic. Numerous officers will be detailed to the area during the event for added security and crowd control.
The Ohio Department of Transportation would like to encourage everyone to download the OHGO app from the Ohio Department of Transportation to see real-time traffic speeds, hundreds of live traffic cameras, and travel delay times. Users can also set up custom traffic alerts.
