CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish issued the following statement:
“Just looking at the dollars and cents, the RNC paid big dividends for the people of Northeast Ohio. The County government invested $2.5 million, yet collected much more than that, in added sales tax over the week of the convention. Almost $200 million came in from businesses, visitors, and the federal government, mostly from outside the region, and supported our residents working in our local restaurants, hotels, bars, law enforcement, drug stores, and other businesses.
But more important than just the direct financial impact was our message: people from around the country and the world saw just how great we are in Northeast Ohio. People got to experience firsthand the friendly people of our community, and that's invaluable!”
