$3 Million in Cuyahoga County Road Resurfacing Program Funding Being Recommended for Approval

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Cuyahoga County is recommending for approval to County Council the approval of $3 million in funding for fourteen projects under the 2018 and 2019 local resurfacing program as part of the Department of Public Works’ Overall Roadway Capital Program. The Roadway Capital Program was developed to assist municipalities to complete projects on local county roads. The $3 million in funding will match funds secured by the municipalities for a total estimated project cost of $15.4M over the two years.
Municipalities are eligible to apply for 50 percent funding of their projects, up to $250,000 per project. These projects are designed and constructed by the municipality with County review. The County reimburses eligible costs at the conclusion of the project.
“Even as local governments come under stress for funding critical infrastructure projects, we are committed to helping our municipalities repair and maintain their roads,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish. “I am pleased to see our County and local city officials working together to get these important road resurfacing projects completed.”
“Even as State and Federal funds are diminishing, the County continues to find innovative ways to assist our municipalities,” said Cuyahoga County Director of Public Works Michael Dever.
Fifteen municipalities are being awarded the funding and the County Department of Public Works is recommending those listed in the legislation. While some projects selected are low cost, others were requested to fill funding gaps to push the projects over the finish line.
