Cleveland Prisoners Transfer to Cuyahoga County Corrections

A regionalized jail system in Cuyahoga County is one of the County’s top priorities. The regionalized approach allows the County to extend high-quality services and cost-savings to all municipalities throughout the county.
"The County is focused on increasing public safety and driving collaboration among regional partners, so all residents are safe and supported," said County Executive Armond Budish. "The elimination of costly duplication offers significant savings for cities while being cost neutral to the county. We are also focused on increasing the quality of and type of services we provide to our inmates. Once the regionalization project is finalized, the county will be able to offer even stronger reentry and treatment services to all qualifying inmates."
An example of the benefits of regionalization for our municipalities is The Richmond Heights Jail consolidation project. The CCCC receives the City of Richmond Heights’ arrests at the Euclid Annex Jail. The initiative is projected to bring the City of Richmond Heights cost savings while providing the city’s police officers more time to patrol the community. Court video conferencing which allows arrestees to attend court without leaving the correction center, is also a part of the regionalization benefit.
The Euclid City Jail and the Cuyahoga County Correction Center are in compliance with 100% of the Essential Standards and at least 90% of the Important Standards meeting the requirements of a “Compliant Jail”, set by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction. The CCCC’s Justice Center intake operations are expanding to a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week operation.
The County has an aggressive plan to establish the capacity necessary to accommodate county-wide jail regionalization by Sept 2018. The next step in the process will be the reopening of the Bedford Heights jail facility under County management on April 2, 2018.

Milestone Reached in Regionalization of Correction Centers
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – The most significant step in regionalization of Cuyahoga County Corrections is bringing the Cleveland City Jails under the CCCC’s oversight. On Monday, March 12, prisoners / inmates confined at the House of Correction (HOC) began transfer to the County, enabling the HOC to officially stop receiving inmates March 15, 2018.A regionalized jail system in Cuyahoga County is one of the County’s top priorities.
