Increased need for foster parents during National Foster Care Month

CLEVELAND
- In Cuyahoga County there are nearly 2,300 children in county custody, placed in foster care, kinship care, or some other living arrangement. In honor of National Foster Care Month DCFS is highlighting several events to support our youth and foster parents who step up to support them.

Youth Poetry Slam
May 9th, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Cleveland Museum of Art

Teens in foster care will join other young people at the “Truth Out Loud” Youth Poetry Slam.  

Moms Rock 5K
May 13th, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Market Square at Crocker Park

Mother’s Day race celebrates moms through birth, foster care, and adoption. Walk, run, and kids dash. A portion of the proceeds benefit Hope for the Holidays, a fund that purchases gifts for youth in foster care.

Foster Parent Training Conference
May 17th-19th
Holiday Inn Cleveland South, 6001 Rockside Rd., Independence, OH 44131

Foster parents learn from dynamic speakers and trainers and network with other caregivers. Special appreciation dinner held on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m.
