New Staff and Board Nominations Announced by Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish

CLEVELAND – County Executive Armond Budish announced that he is filling several positions within his leadership staff.

Walter Parfejewiec, who has been acting as the Interim Director of Health and Human Services, is nominated to assume the role of Director permanently. Public Safety and Services Director Brandy Carney has been named Chief Safety and Protection Officer. The Department of Regional Collaboration has two new leaders: Michelle Pomerantz, formerly Policy and Labor Liaison for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District has been nominated as Director of Regional collaboration, and Jeane’ Holley, formerly a Communications Specialist with the County, has been named Deputy Director of the Department of Regional Collaboration.

“I am very pleased to be able to announce each of these appointments. We took our time reviewing both internal and external candidates for these crucial positions,” said County Executive Armond Budish. “I am confident that each of these individuals will provide great leadership to move the County forward and maintain our tremendous momentum.”

Both the Director of Health and Human Services and the Director of Regional Collaboration are positions that must be approved by County Council.

CE Budish also submitted a number of nominations to Council for Boards and Commissions:
  • Gary Hanson, Interim CEO of the Toronto Symphony and former Executive Director of The Cleveland Orchestra, has been nominated to the Cuyahoga County Arts and Culture (CAC) Board. Local attorney Charna E. Sherman has been submitted for reappointment by CE Budish to serve on the CAC Board.
  • Community Health Advocate Sheryl Hirsh has been nominated to the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board.
  • Keith J. Libman, partner with Bober, Markey, Federovich and Company has been nominated for the Internal Audit board.
  • Kenneth G. Silliman, former Chief of Staff for Mayor Frank Jackson, now retired has been nominated to join the Gateway Economic Development corporation of Greater Cleveland.
  • Mayor Michael Summers is nominated for the Land Bank board. Mayor Summers is Mayor of Lakewood and an active member of the First Suburbs Consortium.
