CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Cuyahoga County has provided two performance grants totaling $52,275 to two local small businesses: Gone to the Dogs and Sides to Go BBQ. The forgivable loans were provided through the City of Fairview Park’s Lorain Road Loan Program which was funded through Cuyahoga County’s SBA Small Business Performance Grant Program. In partnership with the Cuyahoga County Department of Development and the Small Business Administration, the City is offering this program to small business owners and start-ups who are looking to locate and/or expand within the City.

“We continue to look for ways to support small businesses throughout the county from early stage and onward,” said County Executive Armond Budish. “Small businesses create many of the jobs in our region and are a crucial part of a thriving Cuyahoga County.”

Eligible Lorain Road Loan Program activities include certain capital expenditures, down payment assistance on property acquisition, new construction, interior renovation, exterior improvements, and permanent equipment. Funding through this program will improve loan-to-value and leverage, bridge any potential funding gaps, and facilitate business growth and expansion in the community.

“Fairview Park is proud to be a recipient of Cuyahoga County’s SBA Small Business Performance Grant Program,” stated Mayor of the City of Fairview Park Eileen Ann Patton. “To date, this Program has funded two small businesses who both filled chronically vacant buildings on Lorain Road. It has enhanced outdated building facades and encouraged pedestrian activity along the corridor. I can’t emphasize enough how impactful this Program has been for the City and hope to see it continued for years to come.”

Gone to the Dogs, a premier doggie daycare and salon and has called Fairview Park home for 20 years. Owned and operated by Jeffrey Grano and his sister, Jan Gilson, this treasured local business has relocated its operations to 21475 Lorain Road. This new facility will offer the same great amenities and personalized services that customers are accustomed to and will accommodate the growing needs of this thriving business.

Sides to Go BBQ is on a mission to bring authentic and delicious Southern food to Northeast Ohio. The City of Fairview Park is excited to announce its new location at 18900 Lorain Road, the former site of East Coast Custard. Sides to Go BBQ's Fairview Park location, owned and operated by business partners Zarell Patton and Paul Ward, will offer BBQ, Cajun, and Southern cuisine in a manner that is quick, with great pricing and huge portions.

Funding for Gone to the Dogs will create 3 new full-time jobs and retain 13 existing jobs, and funding for Sides to Go BBQ will create 9 new jobs.
