Installation of Solar Panels on Three County Buildings to Bring Energy Savings

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH — The Cuyahoga County Department of Sustainability is working to bring energy savings and continued sustainable practices to the County through the installation of solar panels on three County-owned buildings.
Upon Cuyahoga County Council approval the following properties would have solar panels installed:
Electricity would be purchased from Ohio based developer Enerlogics Solar LLC, and Third Sun Solar Systems would install the solar panels at the three facilities.
“Continuing to work toward more renewable energy production in Cuyahoga County is one of our top priorities,” said County Executive Armond Budish. “This solar panel installation on County buildings is another step we’re taking to help fight the effects of climate change while saving money at the same time.”
The installation would be completed by the beginning of fall 2019. The solar panels are expected to yield a total of 1,147,000 kwh of energy. The panels would account for 13 percent of the total load for the Animal Shelter, three percent for the Medical Examiner’s Office and 25-30 percent for the Harvard Road Garage.
“We’ve seen the energy savings solar panels bring to both buildings and homes of Cuyahoga County residents,” said Director of Sustainability, Mike Foley. “We’re looking forward to continuing to create positive, sustainable change through County operations and in the community.”
