Additional $30 Million Reached in Principle to Settle with Opioid Defendant

Cuyahoga County, OH – Cuyahoga County and Summit County have reached an agreement in principle to settle pending opioid litigation with Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. Through the agreement, Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals will pay Cuyahoga County and Summit County $30 million, $24 million in cash and an additional $6 million in product. The settlement represents yet another milestone in the efforts of the two counties to seek accountability for the harms and damages inflicted by the opioid epidemic. The case remains set for trial on October 21, 2019 against the remaining defendants.
