CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – The Cuyahoga County Department of Regional Collaboration has partnered with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to host the ULI Cleveland UrbanPlan for Public Officials Workshop. This workshop, held on Friday, October 25 from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., will help local elected and appointed decision makers learn more about key forces that shape and affect real estate development.
Public Officials will get a better understanding of the collaboration necessary between the city, development team and the community when establishing both public and private development partnerships. Teams will work on a vision for a hypothetical RFP proposal, with facilitators working with teams to edit their proposals and answer questions. Proposals will then be finalized and presented to a Selection Committee, who will review and give comments.
“The County is happy to support this workshop through the Urban Land Institute,” said County Executive Armond Budish. “Providing public officials with the understanding and tools they need to make the best possible economic decisions around land purchase and development benefits each resident in the community.”
“We are excited about our new partnership with Cuyahoga County Department of Regional Collaboration,” said ULI Cleveland Chair, Steve Ross. “UrbanPlan is a tailor made ULI program which allows participants an opportunity to learn more about the development process and challenges that affect urban development in the United States today.”
Registration for this free workshop is now open, and space is limited. The workshop will be held at the Cuyahoga County Administrative Building, 2079 E Ninth Street, Floor 4 in Cleveland. Attendees must commit to attending the entire 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. timeframe. Lunch and complimentary parking will be provided.
“This workshop provides hands-on experience that purposefully positions municipal leaders in a variety of roles with real-life scenarios to deepen the understanding of regional development, and to best position municipalities to make decisions that positively impact their constituency groups,” said Director of Regional Collaboration, Michele Pomerantz. “Elected officials will then be able to take what they learned during the workshop and enhance their service to residents.”
Interested participants can register on the Urban Land Institute webpage.
