County Bridge Inspectors Discovered Critical Deterioration on Bridge
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – On January 17, County Bridge Inspectors discovered that the Pleasant Valley Road Bridge was experiencing some critical deterioration of the bridge deck. Steel plates were immediately put in place to keep the roadway open to the traveling public. Engineers were able to determine the extent of the deterioration and that immediate full depth concrete repairs would need to be made.
Effective immediately, the westbound lane of Pleasant Valley Road Bridge located in Independence and Valley View will be intermittently closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained in a single lane by portable traffic signals. Vehicles traveling in the area should expect delays and may want to consider alternate routes.
The closure will remain in effect until County crews can finalize repairs. Repairs are anticipated to be completed by the end of March 2020, weather permitting. Signs will be installed on Pleasant Valley Road at the intersections of Brecksville Road and Hub Parkway.
If you have any questions, comments or inquiries, please contact the Public Information Department Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 216-348-3824.
