Board of Health Issues Guidance to Food Service Operations and Retail Food Establishments Regarding COVID-19

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH — The Cuyahoga County Board of Health issued the following message for food service operations and retail food establishments:

The Ohio Uniform Food Safety Code already addresses practices that prevent the spread of communicable diseases such as Norovirus, seasonal influenza and Coronavirus. For example, operations and establishments should:
  • Exclude ill employees from working
  • Wash hands often with warm soapy water for 20 seconds and dry them with a disposable towel or approved hand dryer
  • Sanitize all commonly touched surfaces and all food contact surfaces frequently (including door handles, tables, counters, dishes/wares/etc.)
  • Follow all other food code requirements

Decisions and announcements made by the Board of Health are made from guidance by the Ohio Department of Health and the CDC.
