Virtual Event Helps Veterans Access Critical Resources During the Pandemic

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH
- Cuyahoga County Veterans Service Commission (CCVSC), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and OhioMeansJobs│Cleveland-Cuyahoga County (OMJ│CC) are preparing to host the Veteran’s Virtual Resource and Employment Fair shortly after the new year. The event will provide Veterans with a comprehensive event to access community services and resources.

“The CCVSC is excited to ensure that our Veterans can continue to access services even during these trying times. We encourage Veterans to participate and maximize this tremendous benefit,” said Jon Reiss, Executive Director of Cuyahoga County Veterans Service Commission.

The Veteran’s Virtual Resource and Employment Fair will provide a platform for veterans to access program information about public benefits, housing, mental health services, and more. Veterans can interact directly with organization representatives throughout Cuyahoga County, while remaining safe and distanced in a virtual environment. Organizations that have already confirmed their participation include:
  • Department of Veteran Affairs
  • Cuyahoga Job and Family Services
  • Division of Senior and Adult Services
  • Office of Reentry
  • Northeast Ohio Foundation for Patriotism (NEOPAT)
  • United Way 211
  • Volunteers of America

“Our Veterans need access to community resources and jobs to live their best lives," said Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish. “We are continuously exploring options to expand access to services and resources throughout Cuyahoga County, and are proud to present this event to provide a safe option for Veterans to access critical resources and employers to meet their needs.”

Community resource providers and employers can receive training to create a virtual booth where they will be able to engage with Veterans virtually. To ensure Veterans are comfortable navigating the event, training opportunities on how to navigate the virtual platform will be available prior to the event.

“OhioMeansJobs|Cleveland Cuyahoga is excited to serve Veterans through a virtual platform, letting all who log on know what services are available to them. The partners in the OMJ American Job Center stand ready to help in any way they can,” said Frank Brickner, Interim Executive Director and CFO, OMJ|CC.

A partnership with PCs for People to assist Veterans needing access to computers or the internet has been developed. Veterans can reach out to PCs for People at (216) 930-5741 to discuss eligibility.

Updates regarding the Veteran’s Virtual Resource and Employment Fair will be shared on the CCVSC website, https://cuyahogavets.org/ and Facebook page.

Organizations and employers interested in participating in the event should contact Ann Kilroy with OMJ│CC at (216) 777-8179 or via email at Ann.Kilroy@jfs.ohio.gov.
