CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH - Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish issued the following statement:

“I am incredibly honored that Cuyahoga County has been honored for the Cleveland Orchestra’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award. This award is given to individuals and organizations for their service to the Northeast Ohio community in the spirit of Dr. King.

“We were recognized along with 10 additional organizations for our distribution of millions of dollars in CARES Act emergency funding to meet urgent COVID-19 needs in our community. We were also honored for our promotion of social justice and racial equity as we work to reduce the racial inequities in health and healthcare, economic opportunities, equitable quality of life and criminal justice as part of our declaration of racism as a public health crisis.

“I am honored to have the County recognized for doing the critical work needed to support residents across the region through the struggles the COVID-19 pandemic has brought on. I thank the Cleveland Orchestra for this recognition as part of its 41st annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.”
