Serving low- and middle-income residents virtually
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH - Cuyahoga County and the Cuyahoga Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Coalition, led by Enterprise Community Partners, will host free tax preparation services February 12 through April 15, 2021. Last year in Cuyahoga County, the Cuyahoga EITC Coalition served over 12,000 people and brought back more than $18 million to the community.
“The Cuyahoga EITC Coalition is a great resource to help Cuyahoga County residents save hundreds of dollars by having their taxes filed for free,” says Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish. “They have worked hard to make the necessary adjustments to keep customers and volunteer tax preparers safe since the start of the ongoing health emergency.”
Working with many partner organizations, the FREE tax preparation services will be available virtually or at 11 different drop-off/pick-up locations across Cuyahoga County. Working families may be eligible to receive up to $6,600 through the Earned Income Tax Credit. The program offers free tax help to families and individuals who generally make $57,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. Translation and interpretation services, as well as free financial counseling, are also available.
Appointments can be scheduled by visiting refundohio.org or calling 2-1-1.
Tax returns will be prepared and e-filed for free by IRS-certified tax preparation volunteers, who will also help taxpayers verify if they qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit, and/or other federal benefits. Tax returns will also be prepared for non-filers who did not receive their economic impact payments (stimulus checks.)
The Cuyahoga EITC Coalition, led by Enterprise Community Partners, includes many local partners. Cuyahoga County, which is one of the EITC Coalition’s largest financial partners, is providing a County location for drop-off/pick-up tax prep services at:
Division of Senior and Adult Services
13815 Kinsman Road
Cleveland, Ohio 44120
The Cuyahoga EITC Coalition is a volunteer driven program. Free training is available to become an IRS certified tax preparer for community members who want to volunteer to prepare taxes.
