If approved by Council, the new funding will continue the County’s existing rent relief program administered by CHN Housing Partners
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH - County Executive Armond Budish put forth a proposal to County Council today seeking approval to distribute an additional $10 million of federal COVID-19 relief funding for rent relief to help residents who are having difficulty making rent payments due to the pandemic.
If approved by Council, the County’s funding will be administered by CHN Housing Partners, the organization administering the existing Cuyahoga County Rent Relief Fund. The funding would continue the work CHN Housing Partners is already doing to prevent evictions by helping residents who have lost income due to COVID-19 to pay their rent.
“We want to keep residents in their homes. The County is committed to continuing to do everything we can to help our residents who have been financially impacted by the pandemic,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish. “Pending council approval, this $10 million in funding will provide an additional measure of security to residents struggling to pay their rent as they work to recover financially from the economic impacts of the pandemic.”
“We are grateful to County Executive Budish for his commitment to those struggling to stay in their homes in these difficult times,” said Kevin J. Nowak, executive director of CHN Housing Partners. “With the approval of County Council, NEO Rent Help will remain the front door for those applying for rental assistance in Cuyahoga County.”
If the funding is approved by Council, eligible households may receive up to 12 months of assistance, plus an additional 3 months if the grantee determines the extra months are needed to ensure housing stability and grantee funds are available.
Residents can apply for rental assistance now at neorenthelp.org. For help applying, residents can call 1-833-377-RENT (7368).
