CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH - The Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works is seeking public comment on proposed work for Superior Road in the cities of East Cleveland and Cleveland Heights. Working in cooperation with the cities of East Cleveland, Cleveland Heights and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), this project will include full and partial-depth pavement repairs, install new asphalt pavement, make curb, sidewalk and driveway apron repairs, make Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades and install new pavement markings along the corridor.
Construction is slated to begin in July 2022, with an anticipated completion date of November 2022. This road sees an average daily traffic of roughly 7,300 vehicles per day. The estimated construction cost for the project is $3.5 million, with project funding sources from the Department of Public Works, the City of Cleveland Heights, ODOT and the various grants.
One lane of traffic on Superior Road will be maintained in both directions during all phases of construction with the assistance of a flagger. The project will be constructed in two sections with the first section extending from Euclid Avenue to Mayfield Road and section two starting at Mayfield Road and extending to Lee Road. Normal traffic will be maintained in the section that is not actively under construction. There will be minimal impacts and short closures on intersection side streets, and traffic will be maintained via a detour.
