Cuyahoga County, Ohio – Cuyahoga County, Ohio – Cuyahoga County Council President C. Ellen Connally announced today that Council will host monthly public updates on the Medical Mart and Convention Center project, the times to coincide with Council work sessions or meetings. The first presentation will be held on May 3, 2011 at 4:00 pm in the Council Chambers on the 1st floor of the Justice Center.

“The Medical Mart project is a massive investment of public dollars upon which the county has pinned its hopes for economic revitalization. While we anticipate a highly successful project, Council intends to exercise its due diligence in monitoring the progress of this important venture,” stated Ms. Connally.

Jeff Appelbaum, owner’s representative and project Legal Counsel, has been invited to present on a monthly basis. Council expects to be briefed on construction progress, budget costs, and programmatic efforts. Council’s Economic Development Committee, chaired by Jack Schron, may follow up on specific aspects of the project if necessary.

Noted Ms. Connally, “These meetings will afford the public an opportunity to hear about the MedMart and Convention Center as the project progresses. Council will also be able to monitor progress on a regular basis.”
