Focusing on the heroin and fentanyl epidemic in Cuyahoga County

Bay Village, OH – In 2014, 198 heroin-related overdose deaths occurred in Cuyahoga County, a slight increase from 194 in 2013. However, Fentanyl overdose deaths have risen from 5 in 2013 to 39 in 2014, according to Dr. Thomas P. Gilson, Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.

Cuyahoga County Councilman Dave Greenspan will host a Town Hall Meeting on January 21st, at the Dwyer Senior Center in Bay Village, Ohio. Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Dr. Thomas P. Gilson will be on hand to discuss data trends related to heroin overdose deaths that remain at epidemic proportions and the dramatic rise in Fentanyl deaths that are plaguing our communities. “This Town Hall Meeting will address the growing concerns of heroin addiction and how combined efforts within the community and nationally are helping to counteract this growing trend. Dr. Gilson’s presentation will not only be enlightening but eye-opening,” states Councilman Greenspan.

All Cuyahoga County residents are encouraged to attend.
