Focusing on the County's Sustainability Programs and Future initiatives
Beachwood, OH – Cuyahoga County Councilwoman Sunny Simon will host a Town Hall Meeting on June 15th at 7:00 pm at the Beachwood Community Center featuring Mike Foley, Director of Cuyahoga County’s Department of Sustainability. The Department of Sustainability was designed to promote environmentally -sustainable practices throughout the County government and the community as a whole. Incorporating more eco-friendly approaches to air quality, solid waste, green building, land use, transportation, and watershed management are amongst the department’s highest priorities. “Creating an environmentally sustainable future means we must continue to forge ahead with new innovative ideas and services that can tackle tough sustainability issues and help to reduce the severity of global climate change,” states Councilwoman Simon.
The Department of Sustainability provides assistance to local businesses and non-profit organizations with developing programs that incorporate sustainable methods into everyday practice. These programs not only help entities save money but they also help to prevent environmental issues in the future. In addition, the department’s collaborative efforts with communities throughout Cuyahoga County have worked to increase environmental awareness that significantly contributes to the overall health and well-being of all citizens.
